Baby Riddle is a boutique baby and kids clothing store founded by a registered nurse and her husband right here in the United States. The whole thing started from a very personal place — they wanted to help expecting parents feel completely prepared for their baby’s arrival without giving up the joy of the surprise. That spirit of excitement and care is still at the heart of everything we do.

Today we carry clothing for babies and kids from newborn through kids’ sizes — pajamas, layette gowns, rompers, outfits, accessories, blankets, and so much more. Every brand and every product is chosen because we’d genuinely put it on our own baby.

We’re a true boutique — not a big-box store, not a marketplace. That means everything you see on our site has been personally selected based on fabric quality, softness, and whether we’d actually put it on a baby we love. We don’t carry hundreds of brands just to have a big catalog. We carry the best ones, and we carry them well.

Bamboo baby clothing is made from viscose derived from bamboo plants — and once you feel it, you’ll completely understand why parents are obsessed. The fabric is incredibly soft, silky, and has become the gold standard for baby sleepwear and everyday wear for really good reasons:

• Exceptionally soft — parents describe it as “buttery” or “silky,” gentler than most cottons on delicate skin
• Breathable and temperature-regulating — helps babies stay comfortable whether it’s warm or cool

It really is one of the best choices for newborns. Bamboo viscose is soft, breathable, and incredibly gentle on the most sensitive newborn skin. Many of the bamboo garments we carry meet OEKO-TEX standards, meaning the fabric has been independently tested and certified free from harmful substances — so you can feel good about what’s touching your baby all day and all night.

One little tip: wash new baby clothing before the first wear. A gentle prewash removes any residual manufacturing finish and honestly makes bamboo feel even softer than it already does.

Both are wonderful choices and many of our favorite brands use one or both — here’s a quick way to think about it:

• Bamboo viscose — softer and silkier feel, natural stretch, better temperature regulation, ideal for pajamas, gowns, and anything worn close to skin
• Organic cotton — more structured, highly durable, holds color beautifully over time, great for daywear, outerwear, and accessories

For newborns especially, bamboo is often the go-to for sleepwear. For hats, structured outfits, and accessories, you’ll often see organic cotton. Honestly? Both are so much better than conventional synthetics for a baby’s skin.

A little care goes a long way with bamboo — and it’s not complicated at all:

• Wash in cold or warm water on a gentle cycle
• Use a mild, baby-safe detergent — skip the fabric softener, which actually coats bamboo fibers over time and reduces that beautiful softness
• Tumble dry on low heat, or lay flat to air dry for the longest life
• Avoid high heat — bamboo can shrink a little in a hot dryer
• No bleach, ever

Always check the care tag on the specific garment since instructions can vary slightly by brand and blend. When in doubt, gentle and low is the way to go.

Oh, you need one. A layette gown (also called a knotted gown or newborn sleep gown) is one of those items that new parents discover and immediately wonder how they ever survived without it. It’s a simple top-entry gown with an open, knotted bottom instead of snaps, zippers, or feet.

That open bottom is the magic. When it’s 3am and you’re half asleep, you can change a diaper in seconds without unsnapping anything or waking your baby more than necessary. Just lift the gown, change, and done. Parents who use them in the newborn stage almost universally swear by them for those first two to three months before transitioning to footies.

We get this question a lot and the honest answer is: start with 0–3 months rather than true Newborn (NB) sizing. NB fits babies up to about 8–9 lbs and is often outgrown in just a few weeks — sometimes faster. 0–3 months gives you so much more wear, and bamboo’s natural stretch means it won’t look enormous right away.

If your baby is expected to be larger than average (9+ lbs), it’s worth having a few 3–6 month pieces ready too. And when in doubt, size up — you can always roll sleeves for a week, but there’s no making a too-small outfit work.

Generally yes, though because bamboo has that lovely natural stretch, many parents find they can size up without losing the fit — and get even more wear out of each piece. For Posh Peanut and Kickee Pants specifically, sizing tends to be very consistent once you know your child’s measurements.

A footie pajama fully encloses your baby from neck to toes — legs, covered feet, and usually a zipper or snaps down the front. They’re wonderful once babies are moving around more and need that extra warmth.

A layette gown has no legs or feet and is open at the bottom, which makes diaper changes so much faster in those early weeks. Most parents use gowns for the first couple of months and naturally transition to footies as their baby gets more active and kicks more. Both are staples — you’ll want a few of each!

Absolutely! Just enter the recipient’s address as the shipping address at checkout. If you’d like to include a gift note, pop it in the order comments and we’ll make sure it’s included. It’s one of our favorite things — helping you celebrate the little ones in your life.

We process orders within 1–2 business days, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Once your order ships, you’ll get a tracking number by email so you can watch it make its way to you. Standard domestic shipping typically takes 3–7 business days depending on where you are.

Yes! We offer free standard shipping on qualifying US orders. The current free shipping threshold is shown at the top of the site and confirmed at checkout — so you’ll always know exactly where you stand before you check out.

Of course! As soon as your order ships, we’ll email you a tracking number. You can also log in to your Baby Riddle account at any time and check your order status right from your order history. If you ever have trouble finding your tracking info, just email us and we’ll sort it out right away.

We want you to love everything you get from us. If something isn’t quite right, you have 21 days from the date of delivery to submit a return request. Approved returns are issued as Baby Riddle store credit, which never expires — so you can use it whenever the next perfect thing catches your eye.

A couple of things to keep in mind: all returns require a return authorization before you ship anything back (you can request one through your account), and items must come back unworn, unwashed, and in their original tags and packaging. Our full return policy is on our Shipping & Returns page.

Sale and discounted items are final sale — they’re not eligible for return, exchange, or store credit. Those incredible prices are our way of passing real savings along to you, and in exchange those items are yours to keep. We always make sure this is clear at the time of purchase so there are never any surprises.

Pre-orders are final sale and unfortunately can’t be returned or credited, even for store credit. The reason is that we place pre-orders specifically for you in advance — those items are ordered just for your purchase and can’t be restocked once they’re on their way. We truly appreciate your understanding on this one.

We are so sorry if that happened — please know that we will absolutely make it right. Just email us at support@babyriddle.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the issue. We’ll send a replacement or issue a full refund right away and take care of all the return shipping. You won’t have to worry about a single thing.
